At the gallery spaces of ISSEY MIYAKE INC.—ISSEY MIYAKE GINZA | CUBE and ISSEY MIYAKE SEMBA | CREATION SPACE—the exhibition 'A Piece of Cloth and One Line' IM MEN Reinterpreted by TAKT PROJECT was presented by the men’s brand IM MEN.
Through the perspective of TAKT PROJECT, the exhibition articulated a new vision of everyday life proposed by IM MEN. From the development of the key concept 'A Piece of Cloth and One Line' to the installation, text, sound, and visual elements, every aspect of the creative work was realized as a collaborative endeavor, shaped through close dialogue with the IM MEN design team.

<Key Concept>

Moments of joy, surprise, and tranquility.

Everyday life holds a multitude of expressions.

As a surface, a piece of cloth leads to infinite multifaceted possibilities.

Drawing a line onto the cloth to give it a new dimension.

Leaving the nature of the multifaceted cloth as it is, as much as possible.
Opening to unexplored senses and discovering a new normal.
Adapting diverse universality to create everyday clothing from a piece of cloth with grace.

That is at the core of IM MEN’s clothes-making.
Each day, dressing in IM MEN clothing is like drawing a new line over ordinary living.

This exhibition employs laser levels — a tool used on construction sites to map straight lines — as a component for spatial composition to present IM MEN’s clothes-making.

A single line of light renders diverse luminous expressions on a large piece of cloth floating in space, staging diverse scenes in front of our eyes as if to symbolize IM MEN’s approach to clothing design.
The line of light penetrates the cloth and traces the contours of the surrounding space, revealing a different perspective on the familiar space as it synchronizes with the light on the cloth.

This exhibition presents IM MEN’s approach to clothes-making that conveys a sense of universality,
as the brand explores new, multifaceted perspectives in the ordinary world.
